Trauma Recovery
Post-traumatic stress lives not only in the mind but deep within the body's tissues. CranioSacral Therapy and SomatoEmotional Release offer a gentle, non-invasive path to releasing stored trauma, calming the nervous system, and restoring a sense of safety and wholeness for those living with PTSD.
CranioSacral Therapy evaluates and enhances the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround, protect, and nourish the brain and spinal cord. By optimizing central nervous system performance, CST aims to naturally reduce symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress and improve overall health and well-being.
Sessions take place fully clothed on a comfortable padded table or in a seated position. The therapist monitors the rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid through gentle touch, using delicate manual techniques to identify and release restrictions held within the body. Clients often experience sensations of gentle pulsation, warmth, and a softening of tissues as the body releases deeply held tension.
SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is a therapeutic process that facilitates the discharge of trapped emotional energy retained from past trauma and injury. The body retains emotional imprints from intense experiences, creating what are known as "energy cysts" — localized areas where stress and unresolved emotion accumulate within the tissues.
When the body's natural adaptive capacity diminishes under the weight of these stored patterns, uncomfortable physical and emotional symptoms begin to emerge. During SER within CranioSacral Therapy sessions, individuals may spontaneously reposition themselves into their original injury stance, allowing the trapped emotional energy to exit the body through its original entry pathway. As this release occurs, tissues soften, restrictions dissolve, and the body returns to optimal functioning.
CranioSacral Therapy has demonstrated effectiveness for individuals experiencing physical and mental injuries resulting from combat, natural disasters, sports injuries, family violence, and terrorism. It is particularly beneficial for those living with PTSD, including individuals who also have concussion and head trauma.
When integrated into a comprehensive medical plan with physician clearance, CST can be applied consistently throughout both the acute and rehabilitation phases of recovery. This sustained approach maximizes long-term benefits and supports lasting healing.
"Through CranioSacral Therapy, I've been able to reconnect with myself in ways I didn't think were possible. The sessions helped me release trauma that had been locked in my body for years. I feel like I'm finally living again instead of just surviving."
"As a veteran, I was only sleeping about four hours a night and constantly on edge. After several CST sessions, I'm sleeping nine hours and waking up feeling rested. I'm more relaxed throughout the day and can actually focus on conversations and tasks without my mind racing."
